Solid State High Power Amplifier: AMP40018 Datasheet

The AMP40018 Solid State High Power Amplifier is a compact, rack-mounted solution engineered for demanding EMI/RFI, laboratory, communication, and CW/pulse environments across the challenging 18 to 40 GHz frequency range. Leveraging advanced Class A/AB linear design and cutting-edge device technology, the amplifier delivers dependable, high-fidelity RF power with instantaneous wideband performance. With a typical saturated output of 15 W and a minimum of 10 W in CW or pulsed operation, the AMP40018 provides robust power for test, characterisation, and system-level applications requiring stable millimeter-wave amplification.

Featuring 40 dB minimum gain, 20 dB of adjustable gain control, and stringent gain flatness within 4 dB p-p, the amplifier ensures consistent output and precise control across its bandwidth. Harmonics at –20 dBc and spurious content below –60 dBc maintain signal purity, while low intermodulation distortion supports multi-tone test environments. Built-in protections—including input overpower limits, VSWR foldback, and thermal safeguarding—maintain safe and reliable operation under dynamic loading conditions.

Operational flexibility is enhanced with local and remote control interfaces, enabling seamless integration into automated test platforms. A forward RF sample port is included for real-time monitoring, with an optional –40 dB K-female sample port available for enhanced measurement capability. Operating from 100–240 VAC and consuming no more than 400 W at full output, the AMP40018 offers high efficiency without sacrificing ruggedness or long-term reliability.

Legacy part number AMP2145A-LC, this amplifier continues to set a standard for compact, resilient, and high-performance wideband RF power amplification in millimeter-wave systems.
