2.0 - 8.0 GHz, 20 Watt Solid State High Power Amplifier: AMP20189 Datasheet

This compact, rack-mounted RF power amplifier is designed for demanding EMI/RFI, laboratory, communications, and CW/Pulse applications that require reliable, high-power performance across a broad frequency spectrum. Covering 2.0 to 8.0 GHz, it delivers a minimum of 20 W (typically 25 W) output power with 43 dB minimum gain, offering exceptional linearity and headroom for test, defense, and broadband communications environments.

Built on a high-efficiency Class A/AB architecture, the amplifier combines advanced semiconductor technology with comprehensive thermal and RF protection to ensure long-term stability and ruggedness. Fast electronic protection circuits, load VSWR tolerance up to 4:1, and input power protection to +10 dBm (with optional enhanced control capability) safeguard the system in challenging operational scenarios. Power gain flatness remains within 5 dB p-p to support consistent output across the entire band, while low IMD (-30 dBc typ) and low spurious levels (-60 dBc max) ensure clean, predictable operation in broadband, multi-signal environments.

The system is engineered for ease of integration, offering both local front-panel LCD control and flexible remote interface capability for automated setups and remote RF test environments. Optional –40 dB sample output is available for precision monitoring.

Designed for real-world deployment, the amplifier operates reliably from 0°C to +50°C with full performance, supports high humidity conditions, and endures standard shock and vibration environments. Universal AC input (100–240 VAC) and efficient forced-air cooling make it ideal for lab benches, rack-mount systems, and mobile RF test platforms where power density, reliability, and precision signal amplification are critical.
