1.2 - 1.4 GHz, 500 W Solid State High Power Amplifier: AMP30008 Datasheet

The AMP30008 is a rugged, compact, and lightweight solid state high power pulse amplifier designed for demanding L-Band radar applications.

Utilizing a Class AB linear LDMOS design, it delivers reliable performance with a minimum peak pulse output power of 500 Watts across the 1.2 to 1.4 GHz frequency range. With a minimum power gain of 57 dB at rated output, the amplifier ensures strong signal amplification even from low-level inputs.

Optimized for radar pulse operation, the AMP30008 supports duty cycles up to 10% with pulse widths up to 120 µs. It provides fast rise and fall times under 100 ns and maintains low pulse droop (<1 dB), aided by an integrated internal capacitive bank that ensures stable output performance during longer pulses.

The amplifier is engineered for robustness, featuring built-in protection circuits including input power protection up to +8 dBm and load VSWR protection up to 5:1. Additional performance highlights include input return loss of -12 dB maximum and harmonics suppressed to -30 dBc maximum.

Designed for integration into modern radar systems, the AMP30008 operates from a 40–42 VDC supply with typical current consumption of 4.0 A average and 40 A peak. Environmental durability includes an operating case temperature range of -20°C to +70°C, storage down to -40°C, and tolerance for humidity levels from 5% to 95% non-condensing.

Compact at 200 x 105 x 30 mm and weighing only 1.2 kg, the AMP30008 combines high reliability, low droop performance, and rugged construction, making it an ideal solution for L-Band high power radar pulse applications.
