Bolton, MA -- Chelton Microwave Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cobham, PLC, announced the acquisition of component manufacturer Microwave Development Company (MDC). MDC has supplied waveguide and coaxial components to military, satcom, and wireless telecommunication customers since its establishment in 1981.

Located in Salem, NH, MDC will be merged with the Continental Division of Chelton Microwave located in Exeter, NH. Key support staff, equipment, and process control documentation will begin relocating to Exeter immediately. The transition is expected to be completed by the end of August.

The acquisition is Chelton's third in the past three months. In June, Chelton announced the acquisition of EM software vendor Vector Fields (see related story). And in May, the company completed its purchase of REMEC's Defense and Space subsidiary (see related story).
