    NXP Semiconductors N.V. has announced the expansion on their portfolio of 48V gallium nitride (GaN) RF power transistors optimized for Doherty power amplifiers for use in current and next-generation cellular base-stations. NXP is showcasing the new GaN transistors in booth 1839 at the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2016) in San Francisco (23-26 May).

Initially deployed for tracking pets, the devices are now being utilized to protect vehicles, bicycles and other personal items.     Peregrine Semiconductor Corp. introduces the UltraCMOS® PE19601, a monolithic phase and amplitude controller (MPAC) solution for beamforming at IMS 2016. This new MPAC–Beamforming device covers a frequency range of 8 to 12 GHz, and is designed for X-band radar applications including active electronically scanned array (AESA) weather, air-traffic control, and military radar applications.

  5. Eastern OptX 1100 Series Creates ‘Moving Target’ Radar Scenarios

    Eastern OptX is displaying a radar target scenario generator that is designed to put a radar test range on a test bench. The Eastern OptX Series 1100 Radar Target Simulator is a true broadcasting replicator. The Series 1100 receives the signal transmitted from a radar system and adds the round-trip propagation delay associated with the target distance. That signal is then output to the radar receiver.

  7. Qorvo And Nanosemi Demo Ultra-Wideband Linearization For Massive MIMO Applications

    In conjunction with NanoSemi Inc of Waltham, MA, USA, Qorvo Inc. says that it has demonstrated industry-leading ultra-wideband linearization results with its gallium nitride (GaN) power amplifiers for wireless infrastructure. Using the QPA2705 integrated GaN driver and GaN Doherty power amplifier with NanoSemi's proprietary digital compensation algorithms, the two firms have achieved adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) of -58dBc for a 60MHz signal bandwidth and 3x20MHz LTE carrier configuration, and -55dBc for a 100MHz signal bandwidth and 5x20MHz LTE carrier configuration.
