Xemod Produces Power Modules for PCS, 3G Apps

Source: Xemod, Inc.
Sunnyvale, CA-based Xemod, Inc. has announced the first products in its PCS and DCS lines of QuikPAC power modules. In addition, the company has unleashed the first product in its line of power modules designed for IMT-2000 equipment.

Xemod's new power modules are developed using the QuikPAC system and are designed to improve the performance of amplifier designs in current and next-generation infrastructure designs. The QuikPAC system is a building block approach to the design and production of RF power amplifiers. This approach consists of a set of surface mounting, flat pack designs that are easy/inexpensive to use. In addition, the QuikPAC system can be incorporated into a microstrip assembly connecting the modules with couplers, attenuators, and other active/passive components.

The QuikPAC system sports a set of RF power stages. All RF interfaces are at 50ƒÇ. Power modules produced under this system are developed using Xemod¡¦s XeMOS transistors, which are developed using the laterally diffused metal-oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) technology.

Xemod's PCS products operate across the 1930 to 1990 MHz range and include the 25 W QPP-201 and 120 W QPP-205 modules. Spanning the 1805 to 1880 MHz band, the DCS products include the 25 W QPP-207 and 120 W QPP-211 modules.

The PCS and DCS products are available in both Xemod's standard and GR line. The GR line has all the features of the standard Xemod QuikPAC power modules plus internally controlled gate voltage.

Xemod's first IMT-2000 offering is a 100 W QuikPAC module, designated the QPP-301, designed for systems spanning the 2110 to 2170 MHz band. Specifically engineered for third-generation (3G) wireless applications, the QPP-301 features the same ease-of-use as other QuikPAC power parts and is also package- and pin-compatible with the cellular and DCS/PCS parts.

Sampling has started on the new DCS and PCS products. Production quantities are expected in December of this year. Pricing ranges from $125 for the 25 W PCS and DCS parts to $415 for the 120 W PCS and DCS GR line products.

Sampling quantities are also available for the IMT-2000 power module. Production quantities are expected in the first quarter of 2000. Pricing information is not available yet.
