X-Band 1.5 kW GaN High Power Solid State Power Amplifier: VSX3746

The VSX3746 is a high-power X-band solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) that operates within the 9.0–10.0 GHz frequency range and delivers a nominal peak RF output of 1.5 kW, with a minimum of 1.2 kW.
Designed for pulsed radar applications, the amplifier utilizes Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistors, ensuring high efficiency, excellent pulse fidelity, low phase noise, and minimal AM/PM distortion.
Key features of the VSX3746 include its rugged and reliable design, air cooling system, and ease of maintenance. The amplifier supports a duty cycle of up to 10%, with a typical pulse width ranging from 1 to 100 microseconds and a maximum pulse droop of 1.25 dB. It operates at a prime power of 50.5 VDC with a maximum current draw of 17 A. The input and output connections are SMA female and half-height WR90, respectively.
Physically, the amplifier is compact and lightweight, measuring approximately 10.9 inches in width, 1.84 inches in height, and 10.6 inches in depth, with a weight of 12 lbs (5.44 kg). It is built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, including temperatures from -30°C to +50°C and up to 90% relative humidity (non-condensing). Additionally, it complies with NTIA regulations when appropriately configured.
