Wireless Innovation Forum Releases Updated Transceiver Facility V2.1 With Platform Specific Models
Specification and Supporting Documents Part of the ten-document set of standards that includes FPGA, SCA, and C++ platform-specific models
Washington, DC /PRNewswire/ - To advance transceiver interoperability , the Wireless Innovation Forum (WInnForum) announced the approval of an updated Transceiver Facility V2.1 specification (WINNF-TS-2008) that expands the former platform-independent Model and use case document supplemented by platform-specific models for different programming paradigms. The full package of approved documents includes the formal Facilities Mapping Rules (WINNF-TR-2008) and Time Service Facility (WINNF-TS-3004), also updated with platform-specific models.
The Transceiver Facility standardizes the APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and associated properties for the RF transceiver. It facilitates the portability of radio applications (waveforms) and the use of reconfigurable transceiver implementations on different platforms.
The core specification of the transceiver facility contains a platform-independent model specification (PIM) for the processing stage between the antenna and the baseband processing of the radio physical layer. The PIM specification is complemented by three new appendices that provide platform-specific model specifications (PSM) for the Native C++, FPGA, and Software Communications Architecture (SCA) programming paradigms.
"This is another important milestone achieved to promote the interoperability of Software Defined Radio (SDR) applications and to accelerate the development phase," said R. Muralidharan of Tata Advanced Systems and Member of the Forum Board. "As India As we move towards the launch of the SCA, the Forum's contribution to the advancement of the technology is paramount."
These documents are part of the growing series of specifications developed by WInnForum to promote and harmonize SDR standards internationally. The full library: https://sds.wirelessinnovation.org/specifications-and-recommendations .
