WiGig/802.11ad-Enabled PC Device Shipments To Approach 15 Million In 2015

Wireless high-definition (HD) video technologies represent the next frontier in consumer electronics connectivity. The primary candidate technologies include wireless home digital interface (WHDI), WirelessHD, and Wireless Gigabit (WiGig). Of the three technologies WiGig/802.11ad is expected to have the most long-term success. New research forecasts WiGig/802.11ad-enabled PC device shipments will approach 15 million units in 2015.
In-Stat's new report, Wireless HD Video Technologies: WHDI, WirelessHD, and WiGig Try to Create a Market, provides analysis of the three technologies as well as competing technologies and annual chip average selling price forecasts for each of the three technologies. It also tracks the annual penetration through 2015 of all three technologies into 12 different applications. The report answers stakeholders' questions about this evolving market:
- Which of the wireless HD technologies are shipping in each of the devices covered?
- What are the competing technologies?
- Which application will adopt wireless HD the fastest?
- What are the barriers to adoption of the standard?
