Wave Wireless Introduces 5.8 Ghz Broadband Wireless Connectivity Solutions
Wave Wireless Networking, a division of SPEEDCOM Wireless Corporation (NASDAQ: SPWC), a leading provider of broadband wireless solutions, today announced the launch of its new SPEEDLAN 8500 series of 5.8 GHz broadband wireless routers.
SPEEDLAN 8500 5.8 GHz products use reliable, interference resistant spread spectrum technology, unlike other products operating across the entire 5 GHz UNII frequency band. With a standard 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet interface and standardized packaging, which includes everything needed to install a link, SPEEDLAN 8500 is easily deployed by network administrators or Internet service providers (ISPs) trying to avoid the headaches of telephone based data circuits.
"Our new SPEEDLAN 8500 is designed to meet growing international demand from service providers and enterprises for reliable, fixed wireless solutions in the underutilized 5.8 GHz frequency band and is deployable when other frequency bands may pose a challenge" stated Michael McKinney, CEO of SPEEDCOM. "The addition of 5.8 GHz products will help our ISP customers, in particular, to continue expanding their broadband service offerings and meet the demands of their subscribers."
The SPEEDLAN 8500 series is an addition to the popular SPEEDLAN line, products designed to provide a high-performance wireless broadband solution tailored to fit the budgets of Internet service providers, broadband telecommunications providers, and public/private enterprise customers.
SPEEDLAN 8500 routers present a robust level of performance and features, including Network Address Translation (NAT) to help increase network security, Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) Server to help reduce the load on the wireless network by providing efficient use of IP addresses, and fully configurable bandwidth to shape the bandwidth that each building receives.
"By including everything a customer may need to install a broadband wireless link in a single package, we take a lot of the guess work in selecting the correct components out of the equation" according to Bill Davis, VP of Worldwide Sales for Wave Wireless. "Now, more than ever before, customers can count on SPEEDLAN solutions to help them get a link up and running in a single afternoon."
