VCOs with Low Phase Noise
These voltage controlled oscillators feature gold substrates, low junction temperatures, added temperature stability, high output power, and lowpass filtering. Several different models are available with varying tuning ranges and output powers, each with rugged construction for demanding commercial and military applications.
API’s VCOs achieve lower loss and enhanced phase noise performance through the use of gold substrates, and low junction temperatures are achieved through a combination of ceramic and metal construction. Because of this, a higher MTBF and wider temperature operating range are also achieved. Thermistors have been added to all voltage controlled oscillator designs for added temperature stability, and bipolar transistors are used for additional improvements in phase noise and output power. Lastly, a low pass filter is integrated into each VCO design to provide superior harmonic performance.
