Upconverter Targets Digital CATV Applications
Warren, NJ-based Anadigics has released an upconverter for cable television (CATV), television, and cable modem applications. Specifically designed for space-constrained designs, the ACU2109 monolithic GaAs upconverter supports the latest digital 256 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) format used in set-top boxes, cable modems, and TV receiver tuners.
The ACU2109 upconverter provides –89 dBc/Hz typical phase noise. Housed in a 16-lead SOIC, the product also sports a 6.5 dB noise figure, 8-dB conversion gain, and 600 mW power consumption.
The ACU2109 joins a family of Anadigics' upconverters that are compatible with the multimedia cable network system (MCNS) interoperability standard. The new upconverter is available immediately. It is priced at $3 in 10,000 unit quantities.
