TT Group Acquires BI Technologies

Resistor manufacturer IRC's parent company, TT Group PLC, has acquired passives manufacturer BI Technologies Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of N/A Co. With annual sales in 1999 of $93 million, BI Technologies will expand the passives portfolio of TT Group's companies, which already includes IRC (resistors) and MMG (ferrites, magnetics) in North America, Welwyn Components (resistors) and MMG Neosid (ferrites, magnetics) in the UK, and AB Elektronik (trimmers, potentiometers) in Germany, as well as several companies in automotive sensors in both Europe and North America.

Headquartered in Fullerton, CA, BI Technologies' passive component products include trimmers and precision potentiometers, position sensors, resistor and resistor networks, integrated passive networks, transformers and inductors, as well as hybrid and power hybrid microcircuits. In addition, the company has manufacturing locations in Scotland, Mexico, and Malaysia, with sales offices in France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, and Japan.

The strong sales presence of both BI Technologies and TT Group with offices in Paris, Munich, and Milan, as well as Singapore in the Far East, and the addition of BI Technologies' products to the combined TT Group portfolio will benefit customers through expanded product base and more efficient distribution. Geographic synergies between manufacturing facilities will enhance each company's position.

Product development of thick film, thin film and sensor products, especially next generation integrated passive components, assemblies and modules, will be accelerated and enhanced through TT Group's technology sharing practices, thus shortening the time to market for all new products within the Group companies.
