TMYTEK Designs mmWave Front-End Components For 5G Antenna Beamforming System

What:

TMYTEK designer Su-Wei Chang developed a millimeter-wave (mmWave) filter component for the company’s BBox beamformer box product line, a highly modulized 28/39-GHz beamforming system that enables 5G designers to successfully develop innovative antenna designs and baseband technology.

The difficult specifications for the filter were successfully met using NI AWR software, including the iFilter synthesis tool in Microwave Office circuit design software, the phased-array generator in Visual System Simulator (VSS) system design software, and the Analyst finite-element method (FEM) 3D electromagnetic (EM) simulator. A significant amount of time was saved for the initial design using the iFilter and phased-array generator tools, and the integrated system and circuit simulators enabled the designer to combine the EM results into a circuit model, the performance of which was validated within an RF link analysis at the system level. Overall, NI AWR software saved the designer an average of 20-30% in design time.

“NI AWR software is a very useful tool that helps us in each phase of a design project,” said Su-Wei Chang, TMYTEK founder and president. “It has many good technologies that streamline our design process. I am glad we choose NI as our partner.”
