HUBER+SUHNER has pioneered an innovative solution to a long-standing challenge in coaxial cable design: the trade-off between low signal loss and cable flexibility. Traditionally, solid wire conductors provide lower attenuation but suffer from phase instability under bending, while stranded wires improve flexibility but introduce higher attenuation due to the skin effect and contact resistances.

The patented rotary swaging technology combines the advantages of both, producing a unique inner conductor that is low-loss, phase-stable, and highly flexible. By mechanically deforming conventional strands with repeated blows, rotary swaging smooths the conductor surface, creating a nearly perfect round structure that minimizes discontinuities. This reduces return loss peaks, lowers insertion loss, and enhances overall signal performance.

Central to this portfolio is the SUCOFLEX 550S, a customizable microwave cable assembly offering exceptional durability with a service life exceeding 100,000 flex cycles—far surpassing conventional solutions. Operating up to 50 GHz, the 550S ensures precise, repeatable measurements with superior stability under stress, abrasion, and environmental exposure. Standard lengths are available within five working days, while customized assemblies ship within ten.

Applications range from bench-top testing and high-throughput RF production to vector network analyzer measurements and high-speed digital systems. Other products that benefit from rotary swaging include the SUCOFLEX 100 series, widely used in defense, aerospace, and radar systems, as well as the Spuma RS FR, a highly flexible, flame-retardant cable designed for communication and navigation systems.

Through continuous innovation, HUBER+SUHNER delivers world-class test and measurement solutions that strike a balance between electrical performance, mechanical resilience, and long-term reliability.
