Founded in 1972, Tegal is a leading manufacturer of plasma etch systems used in the fabrication of integrated circuits (ICs), opto-telecom devices and other related electronic devices. From 1978 to 1989 the company was a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola and in 1990 was taken private in a leveraged buyout transaction. In 1991, new management led a corporate restructuring and the development of Tegal's patented 6500 HRe-™ (High-density Reflected electron) system for critical etching applications. The company went public in October 1995 and trades on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol TGAL.

The company continues its tradition of combining innovative technical leadership with expertise in systems and process design to provide the semiconductor, telecommunications and related industries with a wide range of plasma etching solutions.
