Switched Filter Banks

In aerospace and defense systems, where size, weight, and power (SWaP) are critical, switched filter banks (SFBs) provide engineers with a compact, high-performance solution for managing multiple frequency bands. By integrating switches and filters into a single packaged module, SFBs eliminate unnecessary circuit transitions, improving insertion loss, flatness, VSWR, and overall RF performance. Internal channelization further enhances signal rejection and isolation, ensuring reliable operation in demanding environments.
These modules offer significant space savings on circuit boards, making them ideal for size-constrained designs. Typical configurations, such as a 4-channel switched filter bank, can be built in footprints as small as 1.4” x 1.4”. SFBs are customizable, with flexibility in filter type, channel count, and power handling, allowing engineers to tailor solutions to their exact system requirements.
Operating across a wide frequency range from DC to 40 GHz (with higher-frequency options available on request), switched filter banks are versatile components suitable for applications such as RF communication systems, electronic warfare (EW), broadband receivers, and automated test and measurement setups. They are fully shielded, surface-mountable (via BGA attach or direct solder), and designed to operate reliably across a broad temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.
By combining miniaturization with performance, switched filter banks empower engineers to push design boundaries while meeting mission-critical goals. Whether for multi-band communication, adaptable EW systems, or compact broadband receivers, these modules provide an efficient, customizable path to greater integration and optimized RF performance.
