Staccato Communications Announces Partner Program For UWB Suppliers

San Diego -- Staccato Communications, an Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless technology pioneer and Certified Wireless USB leader, announced its Team Staccato Partner Program with 14 initial partners. The program enables Staccato to provide its customers with solutions for WiMedia-based UWB and Certified Wireless USB. The first phase of the program includes collaborative efforts with test equipment, UWB filter and antenna component, and software driver companies. The second phase of the program will involve test houses, production test partners, design services and module partners.

Staccato works with a full range of RF and protocol test equipment vendors, including those involved with lab equipment and automated test equipment. Through the Team Staccato Partner Program, Staccato has engaged protocol analyzer companies, including Catalyst Enterprises, Inc.; Ellisys; and LeCroy Corporation. These relationships were established in conjunction with the development of Staccato's Ripcord Host Wire Adapter (HWA), Device Wire Adapter (DWA) and native Certified Wireless USB products, which will enter production in the second half of 2006. Team Staccato RF test equipment partners include Anritsu Ltd., LeCroy Corporation and Tektronix.

Staccato is actively working with UWB component manufacturers of band-pass filters, diplexers, triplexers and antennas to support multiple bands of the WiMedia UWB radio. In addition, many of the resulting component products support WiFi and Bluetooth for combined Certified Wireless USB solutions.

Staccato's Ripcord is a single-chip, all-CMOS product implemented in a complete System-In-Package (SiP). Staccato's Ripcord Development Kit (SC3111) currently ships with antenna samples from seven different companies, including FDK Corporation; Fujitsu Components America, Inc.; Fractus; Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.; OMRON Corporation; Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd.; and TDK Corporation. This allows customers to make a quick evaluation of available UWB antenna options. In addition to samples, full technical specifications are supplied for each antenna.
