American Technical Ceramics Corp. had net sales for the second quarter (ended December 31) decrease 21% to $8,504,000 from $10,822,000 in the comparable quarter in fiscal year 1998. The decline is sales is due to less demand for the company's core capacitor products in both foreign and domestic markets.
Net sales for the six months ended on the same date decreased 18% to $17,143,000 from $20,780,000 in the comparable period in fiscal year 1998. Net income amounted to $434,000, or approximately $.11 per common share ($.11 per common share assuming dilution), for the six months ended December 31, compared with net income of $2,561,000, or approximately $.66 per common share ($.63 per common share assuming dilution), for last year's corresponding period.
Net income amounted to $516,000, or approximately $.13 per common share ($.13 per common share assuming dilution), for the quarter, compared with net income of $1,517,000, or approximately $.39 per common share ($.38 per common share assuming dilution), for the comparable quarter last year.
