Skyworks Optocouplers Vs. Pulse Transformers
Source: Skyworks Solutions, Inc.

In isolation applications where one needs to pass signals in presence of transient or continuous high voltages, reject extreme noise, and break ground loops, optical (optocouplers) and magnetic (pulse transformers) coupling isolation are often used.
However, pulse transformers are much more difficult to design with relative to optocouplers. Download the application note to learn more.
