CTIA Wireless 2005 Photo Journal

This sign stood at one of the entrances to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center... no question whose show this is!
A very limited view of the Exhibit Hall. There were more than 900 booths, covering approximately 80 aisles.
Some of the booths -- particularly those occupied by handset manufacturers -- were enormous. Shown here is Sony Ericcson's two-story palace. Note the conference rooms behind the translucent windows on the second floor.
Not to be outdone, show organizer CTIA built the largest structure on the show floor -- a 7,000-square-foot Wireless Home, which incorporated 60 cutting-edge wireless devices and services in its many rooms (and yard!).
The competition for attendees' attention was fierce. One of the more successful displays was Samsung's 20-foot-high waterfall, which dropped precise streams of water to form patterns, images, and even words (as shown here) in the air.
LG obviously felt that bigger was better for its booth. Giant cell phones slid or flipped open to reveal their huge displays, which then played a video presentation for visitors.
RF Micro Devices, on the other hand, went small. Its booth featured a tank filled with thousands of the company's chips, as well as some of the devices in which they are used.
Is this an auto show or a wireless show? Motorola tried using a Mini Cooper to lure attendees into its booth.
Even the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) had a booth!
After spending all week on their feet, Eric Merkle of RF Globalnet and Bryan Walker of JFW Industries take a load off at JFW's booth.
