For radio astronomy and other ultralow noise sensing applications, amplifiers are cryogenically cooled to improve their noise temperature characteristics. Typically, amplifiers are cooled to liquid nitrogen temperatures (77 K) or liquid helium temperatures (4 K). MITEQ has tested our low-noise amplifiers to observe how they operate under such extreme conditions, and then fine tuned them for individual applications.
