RFS Launches New, More Sustainable ECO Cable Family
Utilizing more than 50% recycled plastic for the jacketing and using sustainably powered manufacturing
Radio Frequency Systems, a specialist in the design and manufacture of premium, future-ready cable solutions, today announced the launch of its new ECO Cable family, which uses a partially recycled plastic jacketing without impacting technical performance.
Manufactured in our Suzhou facility, which leverages solar power for a significant portion of its energy needs, the new ECO cable demonstrates our commitment to green manufacturing. By incorporating more than 50% recycled plastic into the jacketing material, we significantly reduce the carbon footprint of this cable type.
Extensive testing has shown that the new jacketing material has no impact on the technical performance of the cable, ensuring sustainability without compromise.
The new ECO cable is designed specifically for use with the corresponding ECO connector family. It is also compatible with the other RFS connector families and tools for CELLFLEX cables.
The ability to use recycled plastic in the manufacturing process has been enabled by significant investment in plant and machinery worldwide. Upgraded equipment allows us to take advantage of the latest manufacturing techniques and adapt our product portfolio in line with customer requirements, including solutions with a lower environmental impact.
In addition to the manufacturing process, RFS has also optimized packing, shipping, and logistics processes to maintain a lower CO2 for the end-to-end delivery of ECO cables. This includes packing that allows shipping of 100km of 1/2” cable per container.
Key Features of the CELLFLEX ECO Cable Family
- Recycled materials: Incorporates a higher proportion of recycled material, including the jacket ink.
- Sustainable manufacturing: Produced in Suzhou with solar-powered energy sources.
- Global availability: The outdoor variants will be rolled out worldwide, utilizing optimized shipping to minimize carbon footprint.
- Sizes of cable available: 1/2” and 7/8”
“The ECO Cable family marks a major step in our journey toward more sustainable product innovation,” said Charlie Xu, Product Manager – Cable, at RFS. “We’re proud to offer our customers cables that are not only the advanced, high-performance, and long-life cables RFS is renowned for, but also manufactured with a strong focus on reducing environmental impact.”
