RFMD Supplies CATV Amplifier to Motorola

Schaumburg, IL-based Motorola has awarded a contract to RF Micro Devices, the Greensboro, NC developer of RFICs. Under the pact, RFMD will supply its RF2317 amplifier to Motorola, who will use this amplifier during the development of its CableComm cable access units for telephony over high-frequency cable.

The RF2317 is a general-purpose RF amplifier IC that is developed using GaAs heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) technology. This amplifier sports a DC to 3 GHz frequency range, a 15 dB small signal gain, a 4.9 dB noise figure, and +12 dBm output power. It is housed in an SOP-16 package and operates from a single +12 to +15 VDC power supply.
