RF-Over-Fiber For Defense Applications

Modern defense systems demand high-performance, secure, and reliable communication infrastructure capable of operating in harsh and complex environments. RF-over-fiber (RFoF) technology is increasingly meeting these requirements by enabling the transmission of radio frequency signals over optical fiber, overcoming the limitations of traditional coaxial systems.
RFoF delivers significant advantages, including long-distance transmission up to 100 kilometers without amplification, reduced system weight, and the ability to multiplex multiple RF channels onto a single fiber. Its inherent immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI), radio frequency interference (RFI), and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) events ensures robust and secure operation in mission-critical scenarios.
These capabilities are particularly valuable across defense applications such as command and control shelters, armored vehicles, naval vessels, radar systems, and electronic warfare operations. RFoF enables flexible antenna placement, centralized signal processing, and improved system scalability while reducing cable footprint and maintenance complexity.
In addition to performance and flexibility, RFoF enhances operational security by making signals more difficult to intercept or jam. It also supports advanced capabilities such as power-over-fiber and GNSS signal distribution, enabling fully isolated and highly reliable system architectures.
As defense systems continue to evolve, RF-over-fiber provides a future-ready foundation for high-bandwidth, secure, and resilient communications, supporting next-generation military operations across air, land, and sea domains.
