Nordic Semiconductor's RF remote controller and headset reference kits combine Nordic's industry proven silicon with its applications expertise to provide complete solutions.

Nordic Semiconductor has recently announced the introduction of two reference designs shipping in mid-February 2007. The first is for RF remote controllers offering non-line of sight operation, two-way data communication and 1-year plus battery lifetimes. The second reference design is targeted at low cost USB dongle wireless headsets used in PC-based Voice–over-IP (VoIP) applications such as SkypeTM.

Both the nRD24H1 2-way RF remote control and nRD24V1 wireless headset are based on the nRF24L01 industry-leading, low cost, ultra low power 2.4 GHz transceiver.

The nRF24L01 has an air data-rate of 2 Mbit/s and a 10 m range while operating at ultra low peak power. This ultra low power consumption enables coin cell battery operation. The transceiver operates in the 2.4 GHz band offering worldwide license-free implementation.
