Receiver Blocking Analysis Strategies And Methods

Receiver blocking is when strong RF emissions from unwanted sources interrupt communication channels, which reduces receiver circuitry performance and sensitivity. Blocking occurs through pre-amplifier overload, mixer overload, and ADC overload. Depending on the type of blocking source, the problem can be either intermittent or continuous, and will tend mostly to affect users in the system’s fringe coverage areas. This application note discusses the analysis process of receiver blocking, and the techniques available for its resolution.
