Radiocrafts Launches Narrowband RF Modules Targeting Asian Markets

Oslo, Norway -- Radiocrafts AS, a provider of compact RF modules with embedded protocol, expands their product line with narrow band RF modules for the Asian market.

The new RC1210, RC1230 and RC1250 modules have half a square inch footprint and are low power, two-way radio solutions with an embedded protocol supporting point-to-multipoint networks.

"Based on narrow band technology they meet the national radio requirements in China, Japan and Korea", Mr. Peder Martin Evjen, General Manager, says. "This opens new markets and complements our products for Europe and the Americas", he continues.

The completely shielded modules made for surface mounting measure 12.7 x 25.4 x 3.5 mm. Data buffering, addressing and error check are all handled by the embedded RC232 protocol. A standard UART serial bus is the interface to the host.

RC1210 operates at 419 MHz in 30 channels, with 25 kHz channel spacing, designed for licence free operation in China. RC1230 provides 71 channels with 12.5 kHz channel spacing in the 426 and 429 MHz bands for operation under ARIB STD-T67 in Japan. And RC1250 is designed to comply with Korean regulations operating at 424 and 447 MHz in 80 channels using 12.5 kHz channel spacing.

These three new products complement the narrow band modules already in production for Europe and US/Canadian frequency bands (433 / 868 / 915 MHz). "The new modules are pin compatible with the other modules in the RC12x0 series, use the same RC232 embedded protocol, and therefore allows for an easy market adoption", Mr. Hallvard Moholdt, Development Manager, says.

The modules are multi-channel transceivers, up to 8 dBm output power and a receiver sensitivity of -115 dBm at 2.4 / 4.8 kbit/s. Line-of-sight ranges up to 1.5 - 2 km can be achieved. With 30 dB adjacent channel rejection, 40 dB alternate channel selectivity and blocking properties, these modules offer performance in a noisy environment.

The modules are suitable for pick and place automatic assembly for volume production and are available in tape and reel.
