Qorvo Launches Best-In-Class GaN Power Amplifier Module For S-Band Radar

Qorvo, a leading provider of innovative RF solutions that connect the world, today introduced a 125W power amplifier module (PAM) designed to support S-band (3.1-3.5 GHz) commercial and defense radar applications. Qorvo’s new QPA2513 PAM is a unique two-stage GaN power amplifier solution that is internally matched to 50 Ohms and features high gain (30 dB) and power-added efficiency (62%) in a 70% smaller, surface mount package than competing two-stage solutions. Because of its outstanding performance, the QPA2513 significantly reduces overall system power consumption.

In addition to best-in-class performance, the QPA2513 has been designed to reduce size, weight and power (SWaP) at the system level. This makes system design, board assembly and testing easier, reducing system-level manufacturing cycle times.

Roger Hall, Qorvo’s general manager of High Performance Solutions said, “Qorvo is always up to the challenge of providing unique, high performance and effective solutions using GaN-on-SiC technology for a host of S-band applications. Qorvo’s legacy with defense programs and its reputation for quality make us the preferred vendor for radar manufacturers in the U.S. and around the world.”

The QPA2513 is sampling today for qualified customers and offers the following specifications. Please contact a Qorvo sales representative to learn more.
