Power Amps Target VSAT Applications

M/A-COM, a division of AMP Inc., has released a new family of GaAs monolithic microwave IC (MMIC) power amplifiers for very-small-aperture terminal (VSAT) applications. Designed for fixed and mobile uplink ground terminals, the AM42-00XX family of power amplifiers is manufactured using a 0.5 mm MESFET process and is assembled in an industry-standard hermetic package.

The AM42-00XX family includes three power amplifiers for C-band applications and three power amplifiers for Ku-band systems. The C-band amplifiers span the 5.9 to 7.1 GHz range, offer 30 to 32 dB gain, and support a saturated output power of 2 to 3 W. The Ku-band products, on the other hand, work across the 14 to 14.5 GHz range, sport 22 to 28 dB gain, and feature a 0.5 to 2 W saturated power output range.

The AM42-00XX power amplifiers are available immediately through M/A-COM's direct sales channels in the US as well as its international sales channels.
