Plastic GSM Amplifiers

Two amplifiers designed for 900-MHz GSM applications have been housed in plastic packages. Model MRF9045P is a 45-W RF LDMOS discrete transistor housed in an RF plastic package (PRFP-1) while MRFIC5001 is a 10-W, 26-VDC RF LDMOS IC with 26-dB gain and housed in a surface-mountable PFP-16 plastic package. The reference design, which includes one MRFIC5001 driving two MRF9045Ps, includes thermal compensation and produces 70 W of GSM power in the 925-960 MHz bandwidth on an industry-standard PCB substrate.
