Picosecond Pulse Labs Announces Integrated 10Gb/s Modulator Drivers and Bias Controllers

The 9030 combines a modulator driver and a bias controller into a single package 8 mm thick, 25 mm wide, and 77 mm long. The product has been mechanically designed to snap together with a 77 mm long Sumitomo modulator (X-cut or Z-cut). The overall size of the combined modulator/driver/controller solution is a compact 35 mm by 77 mm. The 9030 offers a great deal of user flexibility by including electrical crossing point control, RF drive level adjustment, bias fine adjustment, polarity selection, photodiode monitor output, and bias monitor outputs.
The measured performance of the 9030 with a Sumitomo modulator demonstrates very clean optical eye diagrams with typical extinction ratios of 14.5 dB and excellent operating stability over time and changes in temperature. The performance and small size of the 9030 enables designers to improve design margin and system performance while reducing board space. In addition, the product's flexibility ensures that is easily incorporated into either a new or existing system design.
Picosecond also offers a Model 9031 that includes an integrated Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA) controller and is designed to snap together with an 83 mm long Sumitomo modulator plus VOA.
