Phasetrum Launches The World-Wide-First Scalable Antenna In Package(AIP) And Phase Difference Type Phase Tuner, Building The Foundation Of 6G Satellite Communication And Mass Production Solution Of Phase Array Antenna

Phasetrum launches the world-wide-first scalable Antenna in Package(AIP) and phase difference type Phase Tuner in Satellite 2024, providing the cutting edge Ka-band signal amplification and phase adjustment solution. Based on Phasetrum owned antenna package technology and its owned developed CMOS low noise amplifier, the NF can reach to 1dB. The low loss, low power consumption of the signal amplification units(PA, LNA) leads to the better G/T and EIRP of the whole antenna. Combining with Phasetrum owned developed CMOS phase difference type phase tuner, 16 antenna array signal gain before antenna can reach to 50dB. The high gain of the signal transmission network helps antenna designer to use fewer antenna array and smaller amplifier to design a smaller, lighter, bandwidth-wider satellite user terminal.

The Scalable Antenna in Package (AIP) integrates 4 antennas on the package of 4 signal amplification device, becomes a scalable design unit of phase array solution which removes the complexity of thousands antenna and signal amplification circuit in legacy printed-PCB phase array antenna, reduce the main PCB from 14 layers to 6 layers and further improves the production yield rate. It also supports the flexibility to select circular and linear polarization without sacrificing the legacy beamformer channels.

Leveraging Phasetrum whole new patented architecture, instead of phase adjusting and compensating gain in the final stage of legacy phase array antenna, phase difference type Phase Tuner adjust phase difference and combine to whole antenna array in each stage of signal branch, so antenna designer could remove the Power Divider Network (PDN) to implement phase array antenna, per stage of signal branch no longer minus 3dB but adding gain, in the example of 3dB, it will finally adding 30dB after 10 stage. Building the 10dBK antenna in 32x32 array with an area smaller than 20x20cm, saving 65% area than other antenna, power consumption saving 50% and make the Ka band phase array antenna feasible. Furthermore, phase difference type Phase Tuner also supports dual beam to access different satellite respectively to achieve Make Before Break feature.

By its own RF IC design and calibration technology, world-wide first invented antenna fabrication and signal transmission network, together with its technology leadership in phase array and beamforming, Phasetrum new phase array solution make it possible for customers to launch user terminal communication module to be applied in Low Earth Orbit(LEO) satellite, 6G base station and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).

“The emergence of LEO satellite and UAV has resulted in significant demand not only for satellite communication and communication resilience but also for Size, Weight and Power(SWaP) and production feasibility for phase array antenna.” said Zuo-Min Tsai, Co-founder at Phasetrum. “We manage mmWave RF signal from chip to board. Integration of RF chip and fabrication technology allow Phasetrum to deliver the most flexible and feasible phase array solution.”

Phasetrum phase array is a complete solution from design to production with required technology including scalable AIP, phase difference type Phase Tuner, RF Up/Down converter, On Wafer Near Field chip antenna measurement tool, to meet customers versatile needs.

In Mar.19~21 2024 Satellite2024 in Washington DC, to facilitate satellite communication technology and build up Taiwan space industry, multiple Taiwan organizations including Industrial Development Administration (IDB), Taiwan Space Agency(TASA), Industry Technology Research Institute(ITRI) and Taiwan Space Industry Development Association(TSIDA) and Taiwan Low Earth Orbit Satellite Industry Alliance (TLEOSIA) cooperate to invite Taiwan vendors for the exhibition. Phasetrum is honored to be a partner attending this extraordinary event and got plenty valuable feedback from equipment manufacturers, satellite operators and RF device developers.

“Phasetrum Scalable AIP is on the right track.” said one global chip testing vendor exhibitor.

“Phsaetrum phase difference array solution can reduce required antenna area drastically and make communication module on versatile vehicle feasible.” said one US satellite operator exhibitor.

“We cannot find a phase array solution to support that high frequency and that wide band, Phasetrum phase difference type Phase Tuner is exactly the solution we are looking for.” said one RF device developer exhibitor.
