Optimizing RF And Microwave Spectrum Analyzer Dynamic Range

Source: Keysight Technologies

Dynamic range in a spectrum analyzer is defined as the ratio, in dB, of the largest to the smallest signals simultaneously present at the input of the spectrum analyzer. The dynamic range specification determines whether or not low-level signals will be visible in the presence of large signals and therefore is one of the most important performance figures for a spectrum analyzer. This white paper discusses how to optimize the dynamic range of an analyzer in order to make more accurate, reliable, and repeatable spectrum measurements.
