Northrop Grumman And ITT Exelis Partner For U.S. Navy's Next Generation Jammer

Team Offers Navy Customer Cutting-Edge Technology and Decades of Experience in Airborne Electronic Attack

Bethpage, NY and Clifton, NJ (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) and ITT Exelis (NYSE:XLS) are teaming to bring together the best of industry to offer unique solutions for the U.S. Navy's Next Generation Jammer (NGJ) program.

The two companies have been involved in electronic warfare and airborne electronic attack technological development since the 1960s, making them well positioned to compete for the next phase of this critical naval warfighting capability – the Technology Demonstration phase.

The Navy's NGJ will fly on the EA-18G Growler as the newest, most advanced electronic attack aircraft in the world, and will provide U.S. forces with the ability to suppress and defeat enemy integrated air defense systems and disrupt and disable an enemy's ground-based communications capabilities.

Northrop Grumman is leveraging four decades of expertise in designing, developing and delivering advanced weapons systems that support the customer's electronic warfare and airborne electronic attack missions.

Exelis is extremely customer-focused in this mission area and will support continued development of advanced technologies to identify and respond to threat emissions. Exelis most recently fielded the Universal Exciter Upgrade for the existing AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System which has significantly expanded its capabilities. The combined expertise of Exelis and Northrop Grumman's affordable and modular electronic warfare mission technologies will provide the U.S. Navy with the solutions required for the Next Generation Jammer.
