Nortel Runs CDMA Circuit Switched Data Trials
Nortel Networks has started conducting live trials of cdmaOne circuit-switched data services with Bell Mobility and other selected customers. Nortel also announced that it is running data service trials in its Wireless Internet Lab in Dallas.
When equipped with the optional FastConnect capability, Nortel Networks' CDMA circuit-switched data product lets mobile and fixed wireless users on 800 and 1900 MHz CDMA networks connect to the Internet, to send and receive e-mail messages and faxes, and to access mission-critical corporate information resources. The FastConnect option enables mobile-originated data calls to bypass the public voice telephone network and connect directly to packet data networks.
Nortel Networks' CDMA circuit-switched data capability is included in its MTX 07 software release. MTX 07 software is currently designed for DMS-MTX digital mobile switching systems.
