Nordic Semiconductor Launches nRF2401A 2.4 GHz Transceiver
Oslo, Norway -- Nordic Semiconductor ASA announced the nRF2401A transceiver, the latest addition to the company's nRF24XX family for 2.4 GHz operation. The nRF2401A was developed as a pin-compatible drop-in replacement for the nRF2401, which is widely used for low-cost, low-power 2.4 GHz applications, such as wireless mice, keyboards, and sports instruments. The nRF2401A is also available in a Pb-free "green" format (nRF2401AG).

The nRF2401A features improved sensitivity and blocking, better range, and higher performance in the crowded 2.4 GHz environment. And it offers all the functions of the nRF2401, such as the ShockBurst feature that is used in both receive and transmit mode and simplifies software and protocol design.
"Rather than spending months and years designing a new RF platform where our customers would have to invest in a complicated redesign, we gave them exactly what they wanted -- a lower-cost, improved nRF2401A, which will drop directly into all already designed nRF2401 applications," Geir Langeland, product manager for standard components, Nordic Semiconductor, said. "The upgrade also represents an increase in production capacity. And for our customers adopting PB-free 'green' technology, the nRF2401A is offered in a Pb-free variant."
nRF2401A samples will be available December 2004, with full volume production January 2005.
