Newest API Technologies Patent Extends RF/Microwave IP For GPS And Asset Tracking Applications

API Technologies Corp. ("API" or the "Company"), a leading provider of high performance RF/microwave, power, and security solutions for high-reliability applications, announced recently that it has been awarded a new patent for antenna technology for GPS and asset tracking applications.

U.S. Patent Number 8810474, titled “Antenna with High K Backing Material,” features an API-designed topology designed to boost antenna performance. API’s unique design reduces weight and delivers consistent performance, even when surrounded by a metallic structure, such as the body of a UAV / UAS or missile casing. Given its low-profile, surface mount design, the antenna is easily disguisable and well-suited for covert applications.

“We see antennas as a growth area in the API Technologies portfolio. By combining antenna designs with complementary RF/microwave products, we provide a complete solution to customers and address areas of defense investment and development, including GPS and asset tracking technology,” said Dennis Barrick, Technical Marketing Director, RF/Microwave and Microelectronics (RF2M US), API Technologies.
