New VCO Provides Quiet Wideband Solution For Cable Headend Equipment

San Diego -- Z-Communications has introduced the V585ME59, an oscillator that generates frequencies between 1200 to 2200 MHz, covering the 1000 MHz bandwidth within 1 to 20 Vdc of control. Even though the device covers a broad spectrum of bandwidth, it exhibits phase noise performance of -99 dBc/Hz, typically, at 10 kHz from the carrier. The V585ME59 is ideal for cable headend equipment with its nearly perfect linear tuning capability.

The V585ME59 delivers 8 ± 3 dBm into a 50 W load while operating from a nominal 8 Vdc supply and drawing 15 mA of current. The device covers the bandwidth with an average tuning sensitivity of 73 MHz/V. Load pulling is further minimized to less than 18 MHz, with a return loss of 14 dB in any phase, while pushing less than 3 MHz/V with a 5% change in the nominal supply.
This compact oscillator operates at a temperature range of -40 to 85° C and is packaged in Z-Communications' MINI-14S-UL, a low profile surface mount package measuring 0.5" by 0.5" by 0.1".
