New A-Series Attenuators Support Compact RF Signal Chain Designs

microwave assemblies

As RF systems become more complex, designers need compact components that deliver precise signal control without compromising performance or reliability. Knowles’ ATT A-Series attenuators address these demands with wideband operation from DC to 20 GHz, accurate attenuation, and power handling in an industry-standard surface-mount footprint.

Built with precision thin-film resistor technology on a ceramic substrate, the A-Series provides stable, repeatable attenuation across frequency, temperature, and environmental conditions. Standard attenuation values range from 0 dB to 20 dB, while 50-ohm matched RF inputs and outputs support smooth integration into signal chains. These capabilities help engineers manage signal levels, protect sensitive components, improve return loss, and optimize dynamic range.

Measuring just 0.080 × 0.065 × 0.012 inches, the compact attenuators are designed for space-constrained assemblies. They support power handling up to 6.5 W CW at 100°C and operate across temperatures from -55°C to +125°C, making them suitable for demanding applications such as radar, phased-array antennas, electronic support measures, transmit/receive modules, wireless infrastructure, satellite communications, and RF test equipment.

The A-Series also offers a practical upgrade path for existing designs. Pin compatibility with industry-standard chip attenuators can help engineers improve bandwidth or power handling while minimizing PCB redesign requirements. Custom attenuation values, power ratings, and specialized configurations are also available through Knowles’ turnkey design-to-spec solutions.

Discover how the ATT A-Series can help simplify RF integration and meet evolving signal-chain requirements.
