Multicast Analysis Capabilities To Digital Video Services

San Jose, CA - JDS Uniphase announced the addition of Multicast Analysis capabilities to the DTS digital video services test and measurement solution. This addition underscores the company's commitment to supporting Digital and IP Video service providers around the world with the most effective tools to ensure efficiency and reliability when maintaining their networks and deploying new services. JDS Uniphase also announced that its recently launched terrestrial interface for the DTS is now being shipped to customers.

Launching Analysis of Multicast IP Video Services

The new Multicast IP Video Services Analysis capabilities added to the DTS come at a critical time in the broadcast industry. For operators interested in ensuring accuracy, reliability and precision while delivering DV services via multicast to customers, the DTS digital video test product line delivers several features that help ensure a quality viewing experience. Operators using the multicast analysis feature can now turn their JDS Uniphase DTS test instrument into a more versatile digital video (DV) service-receiving device (similar to a STB) and can perform test functions to the digital video service remotely as if actually at the customer premise. This functionality enables proactive identification of trouble spots and improves operational efficiency and quality of service (QoS) within the network before potential problems reach the customer. It also enables operators deploying multicast video services to analyze their digital video services with ease-of-use, a hallmark of the DTS family of products.

"Multicast analysis is important for operators providing advanced digital video services today -- JDS Uniphase has introduced new features to address problems, challenges and signal interference to enhance efficiency and reliability for operators managing multicasts," said Sudeep Bose, product line manager for the DTS product line. "Now, users can leverage the DTS tool's additional capability to quickly and easily join and leave multicast service groups, effectively minimize video services problems and provide higher quality of service for the viewer."
