Modelithics Launches Non-Linear Transistor Library For Agilent ADS
Tampa, FL -- Modelithics is now shipping the Non-Linear Transistor (NLT) Library as its newest collection of high accuracy models for microwave design simulation. The library complements Modelithics' CLR Library of surface-mount capacitor, inductor, and resistor models, and the Non-Linear Diode (NLD) Library introduced last year (see related story). The NLT Library is now available for use with Agilent Technologies' Advanced Design System (ADS). With the addition of the NLT, designers using the complete Modelithics Library for Agilent ADS can improve their design success with well-documented active and passive device model library for PCB and multi-layer board designs.
With built-in substrate scalability and measurement validations including 2-tone intermodulation distortion, S-parameters, static and pulsed-IV, load- and source-pull, 1/f noise, noise parameters, and power compression, NLT models provide versatility and simulation accuracy. The range of models covers LDMOS FETs for high-power microwave amplifier designs up to 100 watts or more, down to low-noise pHEMTs and BJTs for LNA and oscillator design.
"Designers choose ADS for its industry-leading simulation technology. Good models are critical to getting accurate results from our simulators," Joe Civello, ADS product marketing manager, Agilent EEsof EDA Division, said. "I am pleased, but more importantly our customers are pleased, with Modelithics' continued expanded offering of high-quality, well-documented model libraries for commercially available components."
"We have enjoyed a close relationship with Agilent Technologies as we formulated our extensive ADS model library, and in particular Agilent's IC-CAP model extraction environment has been a valuable resource in developing many of the non-linear transistor models contained within the NLT library," Larry Dunleavy, president of Modelithics, stated. "ADS is a great tool, but it's clear that designers need better device models to accelerate their design cycle time. We are excited about the many updated models in our latest release of library products that provide a consistent and easy-to-use model format and high quality, feature-rich performance across a range of different manufacturer's devices."
The NLT Library contains models for a wide variety of BJT, JFET, MOSFET, MESFET, and pHEMT transistors from vendors, including Cree, Agilent, Excelics, Infineon, ON Semi, Mitsubishi, Motorola, NEC, Philips, and Rohm, with more to be added continuously. In addition, the latest releases for the CLR and NLD libraries contain many new models and features such as more convenient substrate (MSUB) referencing and full transient simulation capabilities.
