Modeling Toll Tag Reader Electromagnetic Coupling To Locate Lane Cross-Read Error Potential

Source: ANSYS, Inc.

Automated vehicle identification provides a viable alternative to traditional methods with the promise of improved efficiency and lower cost to operators. Recent improvements in RFID have also provided municipalities and transportation agencies with creative approaches to ease traffic congestion during peak hours. Extended read range and shorter interrogation times are enabling systems such as high occupancy tolling (HOT) and congestion pricing, which are becoming commonplace throughout the world. With other applications in auto-identification emerging, such as auto-entry parking, traffic management, violation processing, and vehicle system health management, there is a growing need to understand the reader-tag interaction in complex and dynamic scenes in order to optimize design and installation of the system.
