Microtech Introduces New Line Of Ultra-High-Power Flexible Waveguides

microtech_flex

Cheshire, CT -- Microtech Inc., a designer and manufacturer of passive microwave components, has developed a new line of ultra-high-power flexible waveguides. These units are manufactured with "cooling fins" incorporated into their design to facilitate the removal of heat from the unit through convection air flow. Fans can be incorporated to further enhance the power handling capability of the units.

The WR-187 assembly, pictured at right, is capable of 10 KWCW and 1.25 megawatts unpressurized or 2.5 megawatts when pressurized to 15 PSIG.

Compatibility with mating-system flanges can be achieved though an electroplating processes performed in Microtech's plating department. Rigid waveguide assemblies can have their power handling enhanced in a similar fashion. By adding water cooling, customers can achieve even higher power-handling capability.

This solution to power handling constraints can be applied to all waveguide sizes including double ridge. Many of the more popular sizes of flexible waveguide can accommodate the addition of cooling fins.
