Ontario, CA -- Earlier this month, the Maury Microwave booth at the IMS2008 Exhibition in Atlanta showcased another new development in the company's Device Characterization Solutions line. In live demonstrations of Maury's innovative Sensor Tuner, visitors saw how this break through technology can provide load pull measurements with real-time impedance measurements at fundamental and harmonic frequencies.

Maury introduced the Sensor Tuner at IMS2007 as a concept product in early development. Preliminary testing had established the feasibility of using the Sensor Tuner technology with the Large Signal Network Analyzer (LSNA). At that time the Sensor Tuner, an advanced version of Maury's proven MT982EU series Automated Tuner, was used to extract time domain data, calibrated at the DUT plane, under user-defined impedance states.

This year's live demonstrations with the improved VNA+ (an LSNA product of NMDG Engineering) showed how progress in refining this technology allows new techniques in large-signal, non-50 ohm load pull measurements. The new techniques enabled by the Sensor Tuner provide faster and more comprehensive device measurement, to reduce the cycle time in power amplifier development. Maury is working to make this innovative technology available to the industry in the near term. The VNA+ and the Sensor Tuner are supported by the newly released version 5.0 of Maury's Automated Tuner System (ATS) software, and further refinement of the software will round out the range of test and measurement applications that the Sensor Tuner technology is designed for.
