LPKF To Introduce Lead-Free Tabletop Convection Reflow Oven
Wilsonville, OR -- At the 2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS), LPKF Laser & Electronics (booth #2222) will introduce the LPKF ProtoFlow Oven for lead-free reflow soldering, the latest addition to its range of PCB prototyping equipment. The new design has been greatly influenced by the new stringent process requirements of lead-free technology, as well as by the prior oven model from LPKF, the ZelFlow R04.

As a standard feature, the oven incorporates four internal temperature sensors and a multiprocessor controller board, which together ensures even heat distribution over PCBs up to 9 x 12 inches. Several software zones between preheating and final reflow make the LPKF ProtoFlow capable of processing most reflow profiles, as well as making it suitable for prototyping, technology research, and even pre-production testing.

An optional four additional sensors can also be freely mounted on the PCB by the operator, enabling the temperature profile to be displayed in real time on a PC through a standard USB connection. Additionally, the reflow process can be observed through a large window, assisting the operator with process parameter optimization.

The LPKF ProtoFlow is a high-tech, user-friendly reflow oven with many pre-programmed process profiles, which can be selected using 4 navigation keys. Custom profiles may also be created right on your PC which may then be uploaded to the ProtoFlow oven. An LCD display, together with an intuitive software interface, completes the control features of this oven. Process parameters can be exchanged with a PC and conveniently managed or archived on your hard disk. No special software is required, other than Excel for tracking and editing various parameters.

The maximum process temperature is 3200C and updated firmware capabilities through the USB port give the LPKF ProtoFlow oven a wide application range.
