Lansdale Semiconductor Acquires Rights To 77 RF/IF ICs From Freescale

Tempe, AZ – Lansdale Semiconductor, Inc. president R. Dale Lillard announced the company's acquisition of 77 Radio Frequency/Intermediate Frequency Integrated Circuits built with bipolar, CMOS, and BiCMOS technologies. Phase-locked loop functions, frequency synthesizers, prescalers, VCOs and mixers account for 31 of the 77 parts, with the balance divided among 15 RF/IF amplifiers, receivers, transmitters, and front-end Ics; 19 telecommunications ICs; and 12 ICs with miscellaneous functions.

Lillard stated, "After manufacturing mission-critcal, hi-rel military and commercials semiconductors for over 41 years, Lansdale Semiconductor has now expanded its product offerings with some of the electronic component industry's most popular, and in demand, RF and wireless ICs." These devices were chosen because they are the most popular of the families being phased out of production by Freescale Semiconductor (formerly Motorola SPS), due to their desire to optimize their semiconductor process and product portfolios.

These IC devices fit a wide range of applications, including remote controls, communications receivers, garage door openers, wireless barcode readers, global positioning systems, instrumentation, wireless industrial controls, two-way radios, base stations, test equipment, remote meter reading, vehicle theft locators, personal beacons, irrigation controls, and even electronic dog leashes.

Each of these ICs is built using Freescale Semiconductor's tooling specifications, and performance characteristics to meet the customers' requirements for existing or new designs. Every device is available in original product package configurations formerly produced by Freescale. By using the Lansdale device, the customer eliminates the need to go to the time or expense of designing a replacement device, or of doing a complete redesign and qualification in existing end products.

Lansdale has been chosen to supply these products to ensure that Freescale's customers will continue to be supported for both existing and new wireless designs.

A complete selector guide and data sheets covering these 77 ICs are included in a new Wireless Technology Data Book from Lansdale. This data book also includes a cross reference from the legacy part numbers to the new Lansdale part numbers; a list of 22 application notes by abstract number and six related and previously published articles; plus four wireless system block diagrams showing how these devices can be used in new wireless applications.

Availability of the 77 wireless devices varies, based on demand and existing silicon. More than 31% are available from stock; 29% have deliveries of 30 to 90 days; and 40% have a twelve-month lead time as there is no current demand or silicon in stock.

Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. has given Lansdale Semiconductor, Inc. exclusive rights to manufacture and market these RF/IF IC products worldwide. The financial terms of this agreement have not been disclosed by either company.
