Knowles DSM Supercapacitor Modules Now Available In 60V

Knowles’ DSM supercapacitor modules provide engineers with flexible, reliable energy storage solutions that can be used as alternatives to or in parallel with batteries, enhancing system performance and extending operating life. The latest addition to the DSM series introduces a 60V/18A module, expanding the design options available to developers working with demanding power requirements.

Each DSM module is designed for rapid, safe integration into both new and existing systems. Standard features include voltage ratings from 9Vdc to 60Vdc and capacitance values from 0.075F to 36.6F, as well as integrated passive cell balancing for consistent voltage management across cells. Modules are equipped with Molex Mini-Lock connector cable assemblies, providing a true plug-and-play solution for streamlined prototyping and deployment. Their robust design supports operation from -40°C to +65°C, with extended use up to +85°C at derated voltages, while maintaining RoHS and REACH compliance and UL 810A recognition.

Engineers benefit from low equivalent series resistance (ESR), high current capability for pulse power applications, and long service life exceeding 500,000 charge/discharge cycles. By offering higher voltage options like the 60V model, DSM modules eliminate the need for complex multi-module wiring, reducing design time, minimizing connection points, and improving reliability.

Applications span a wide range of industries, including factory automation, robotics, medical equipment, UPS systems, emergency lighting, AGVs, EVs, valve actuators, pulsed power devices, solar lighting, and energy harvesting solutions. With this new 60V option, the DSM series continues to provide engineers with versatile, off-the-shelf modules for both high-energy and high-power demands.
