Ka Band Power Amplifier

Source: Microsemi Corporation

This power amplifier is well suited for use in Ka Band SATCOM uplink applications. The Ka band (26.5 to 40 GHz) allows for higher bandwidth, making it particularly ideal for applications that involve satellite communications. This power amplifier covers the 29.5 to 31.0 GHz frequency range and has a 38 dB nominal gain and operation from a single +5V supply.

The MSC2931P3540 Ka band power amplifier is hermetically sealed and has been designed for airborne environments to RTCA DO-160E vibration, altitude, humidity, shock, fungus and waterproofness. It supplies 10 W of output power (min) at P1dB over a -55 °C to + 70 °C baseplate temperature range. The power amplifier features current limiting for input overdrive conditions, thermal shutdown protection, and a transmit enable function.
