Ka-Band LNA Features 1.3 DB Noise Figure—Ideal For MIL Satcom

ERZIA Technologies, a full-service RF/microwave amplifier and integrated assembly company delivering COTS solutions for high-performance/high frequency applications, is pleased to announce a new, packaged, microwave low noise amplifier (LNA) that has been designed for the unique requirements of military satellite communication (MIL SATCOM) and other airborne systems. Specifically, the operating bandwidth of model ERZ-LNA-1770-2200-40-1.5 is from 17.7 GHz to 22 GHz, which spans both Military and Civil Ku and Ka-band Satcom frequencies. The LNA is a state-of-the-art unit which delivers a typical noise figure of 1.3 dB at 25ºC, and a maximum noise figure of 1.4 dB at 25ºC over the entire operating band. This is an exceptional noise figure for an LNA at this high of a microwave frequency band and solves a key challenge often encountered by Satcom system engineers.

Additional features of this LNA include: high reliability in extreme environments; typical input VSWR of 2.0:1; output power of 10 dBm; 39 dB of small signal gain; a bias of 12 VDC (±3); and a small waveguide package—measuring just 41.4 mm x 21.0 mm x 22.4 mm. Standard connectors are WR42 on the input and SMA female on the output. Customized performance and packaging are available. ERZIA microwave LNAs can also be provided as integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs).
